“An elongated box open on the long sides and elevated on pilotis, the Walker Residence is similar in design to the Leavengood Residence. Here, however, the screened patio space makes up nearly half of the living area, which is all on one level. From the entry side the house is lifted a full story off the ground to accommodate parking and entry underneath. It appears only slightly elevated at the water side due to the rise of the beach dune and retaining wall. A universal, modern design, this house floats above the landscape, providing a platform for viewing the gulf and the beach.”
