The Textile Building, (Group 3, although never referred to as such) connected to Group 2 as an extension on its southwest corner, is one of the simplest buildings on campus. According to Grattan Gill, job captain on the project for Desmond and Lord, it was imperative that this structure come in under budget to preserve the integrity of the design of future buildings. Rudolph had been removed from the project in 1966. Gill and others working for Desmond and Lord continued to complete buildings based on the original designs by Rudolph.
