Sometimes referred to as the “Harbour Road” project.
“Sponsored by the Sino Land Company, Rudolph designed this tower as a competition entry for a mixed-use commercial development located less than a mile from Hong Kong’s Central District. The program included a hotel and office building, as well as restaurants and retail shops.
Sino, which could have been the tallest building in Southeast Asia, is fundamentally similar to the other towers Rudolph designed in the region yet one of the most clearly articulated. While the metaphor of the tree and allusions to the Eiffel Tower’s structure may be more or less apparent to an architectural observer, the reference to the megastructure and prefab units is perfectly clear.”
