Rudolph was brought into this project to rework a scheme developed by I.M. Pei. Working on it for many years and trying to be sensitive to a growing preservation movement in New Haven, he eventually devised a plan that was scheduled to be built. However, the cost of the massive project caused its cancellation in the early 1980s.
