The auditorium was originally designed to have a fifth lecture hall protruding from the parking lot side of the building which was eliminated due to budget concerns. The SMTI/UMass Dartmouth auditorium is remarkably similar to the one at the Creative Arts Center at Colgate University and his design for a theater project for a Ford Foundation exhibition in 1962.
