Haywood Apartments, Siesta Key, Sarasota, FL 1952-1953 Project Not Built

"In 1954, back in Florida, his work returned to more large two-story projects with his design of the Haywood Apartments in Sarasota. This unbuilt project showed a freer interpretation of solids and voids within and without the upper umbrella-like flat slatted roof. The scheme embraced large open spaces visually protected by freestanding exterior wood screen walls. The plans, with semicircular walls and circular staircase, again showed the influence of Mies and Corb."
