On why he maintained a small practice “Architecture is a personal effort, and the fewer people coming between you and your work the better. This keeps some people from practicing architecture, like the sculptor Nivola [Constantino Nivola, 1911-1988], who says “I cannot stand anybody coming between me and my work.” This is a very real problem, and you can only stretch one man so far.
